Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Curartio (curartio.com), operated by Toronto Warez Inc., a company registered in Ontario, Canada. Please read the sections on permanence and authorship carefully — they describe things that cannot be undone.
1. What Curartio does
When you register an artwork, we calculate a SHA-256 fingerprint of the image you upload and record that fingerprint on the Polygon blockchain, along with the date. We publish a certificate page and an artist profile page for that work.
This creates a timestamped, independently verifiable record that a specific image was claimed by you on a specific date.
2. What Curartio does not do
We do not verify authorship. Everything registered on Curartio is self-attested. When you register a piece you confirm it is your original work; we do not and cannot independently check that. A Curartio record is evidence of a claim, not proof that the claim is true.
Specifically, registering a work is not:
- a copyright registration, filing, or transfer
- a legal determination of ownership or authorship
- an appraisal, valuation, or guarantee of value
- an NFT — there is no token, nothing to buy, sell, or trade
- a substitute for legal advice
Copyright in your work arises automatically when you create it, independently of Curartio. Nothing here changes that.
3. Records are permanent
Blockchain records cannot be deleted. Once a fingerprint is written to Polygon, neither you nor we can remove or alter it. That permanence is the point of the product, and it is irreversible. Please be sure before you register a piece.
What we can do is control what appears on this website. You may hide any of your pieces at any time from your dashboard. A hidden piece disappears from your public profile, from the artist directory, and from search results.
Its certificate page stays reachable by direct link. This is deliberate: QR codes may already be printed on the back of a canvas or displayed at a show, and breaking those links would defeat the purpose of the certificate.
If you need a certificate page taken down entirely, contact us and we will consider the request. The underlying blockchain record will still exist.
4. Your work stays yours
You keep all rights in your artwork. We claim no ownership of anything you upload.
You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, resize, convert, and display the images you upload, for the purpose of operating Curartio — showing your work on your profile, on certificate pages, in the artist directory, on our homepage, and in search results and previews. This licence lasts as long as the work is registered and published on the site.
Uploaded images are converted to WebP and resized to a maximum of 1600 pixels on the longest side. The fingerprint is calculated on that stored file.
5. Accounts and invites
Accounts are currently created by invitation. Invite codes are single-use and non-transferable in spirit — you may pass a code to another artist, but once used it cannot be used again.
You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account. Each account is subject to a limit on the number of pieces that can be registered; we may raise that limit for individual accounts at our discretion. Hiding a piece does not free up a slot, because the blockchain record has already been written.
6. What you agree not to do
- register work that is not yours, or that you do not have the right to register
- upload unlawful, infringing, or deliberately misleading material
- impersonate another artist, person, or organisation
- use Curartio to misrepresent the provenance or authenticity of a work
- attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service
- scrape or bulk-download the site beyond ordinary browsing
False claims of authorship are your responsibility alone, and may expose you to legal liability from the actual rights holder.
7. Removal and suspension
We may hide any artwork, or suspend any account, where we believe these terms have been broken or where we receive a credible complaint. A suspended account's profile and artwork pages stop being publicly accessible.
We will normally contact you first, but may act immediately where there is a clear rights claim or a risk of harm. If you believe we have made a mistake, email us and we will review it.
If you believe work registered on Curartio infringes your copyright, contact us with details of the work, the page in question, and your relationship to the rights.
8. Cost
Curartio is currently free for artists. Registering work, certificates, QR placards, and your profile cost nothing.
We may introduce paid features, higher tiers, or charges for new registrations in future, and we may charge galleries, exhibitions, and other organisations at any time. If we ever begin charging artists for something that is free today, we will give notice in advance, and work you have already registered will remain registered and published without a new charge.
9. Availability and liability
Curartio is provided as-is. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may change or discontinue features. Blockchain writes depend on third-party infrastructure and network conditions and can fail or be delayed; where a write fails, the piece stays pending until it succeeds.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Toronto Warez Inc. is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost sales, lost profits, or loss of data arising from your use of Curartio. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Ontario or Canadian law.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service develops. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered artists by email. Continuing to use Curartio after a change means you accept the updated terms.
